Pool Types

There is one main difference in all types of swimming pools and that is how the basin in constructed. These different pool types can be broken down into pool styles, each different pool type has its own advantages and disadvantanes.

  • Above Ground Pools:
The above ground pool is the cheapest option for construction and it is also the easiest to build. Prefabricated kits are use to make most above ground pools, which with a little practise even an amateur could probably put together. Although we would not recommend this, you should use a professional installer as do most people and we would recommend Splash & Relax as they are specialists in this field.
    The Installation:
    1)
They start with leveling out the ground giving a flat building area. Once done they start to assemble the perimeter track to help support the outer wall, this will be made out of wood, plastic or metal.
    2) They will then spreading sand to the pool area and the plumbing will also be layed.
    3) Once this is smoothed out they will apply and secure a vinyl liner which will cover all the pool walls.
    4) Now thats secure they will start adding the water to your pool, as the pool is filling up with water the liner should be smoothed and fastened into place.
    5) Last and final step is to hook up your pump and filter system, once they have connected them your pool is ready to be used.
The only real disadvantage of this sort of above ground pool is the fact that its not as durable as other designs and can be less attractive. These pool types are also less permanent which could be counted as both an advantage and disadvantage as they are quite easy to take down and move to a new pool area.
  • In Ground Pools (Vinyl lined):
The structure of in ground pools is a lot like the structure of the above ground pool but with a look of a more conventional in ground design.
    The Installation:
    1)
The construction crew will dig a hole to the size of your pool and install (assemble) one of a wooden, plastic or metal framed wall inside the pools hole area.
This is the cheapest design of in ground pools but its not as durable. With most of these types of pools in most conditions the liner would need to be replaced around every 10 year.

  • Fiberglass Pools:
Reinforced fiberglass plastic is used to make this type of pool which is molded into its basin shape.
    The Installation:
    1)
The construction crew (contact us for more info) will dig a hole to a size to fit your pool.
    2) Sand filler and the necessary plumbing will be added into your hole and the pool structure will then be lowered into the hole.
    3) They will now level the pool out and refill the area around the pool where needed, then the plumbling will be hooked up.
    4) Most of these pool types are surrounded with a concrete deck structure or wooden decking area.
